The purpose of this test was to compare the non-wetting ability with molten aluminum between boron nitride coating and Foundry Coatings, Inc. Hi Temp Ladle Kote 310B.

Test was conducted by submerging two steel strips covered with coatings by brush. Metal strips were preheated to 300°F prior to coating. Strips were then submerged into molten aluminum side by side 25 times.

Hi Temp Ladle Kote 310B demonstrated better non-wetting ability with molten aluminum than the boron nitride coating. Please refer to the photograph below.
